How to disable search engine robots in WordPress

While you are first setting up your web site, it is a good idea to tell search engine robots not to scan and index your site yet. If you wait until you have all of the basic sections of your store traffic site finished to let search engine bots index it, your site will most likely be treated a little bit better.

How to disable search engine robots in wordpress

  • Log into your WordPress admin panel
  • Select "Settings" → "Privacy"
  • Select "I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors"
  • Select "Save Changes" to save your changes

Don’t forget:

Once you have finished creating your site, you should be sure to change this back and tell search engine robots that it is ok to index your site…otherwise it won’t rank well at all and you will be left wondering what is going on.
