Setting up a contact page for your store traffic site

Setting up a contact page is something that should be done for any site which wants to make ranking organically with search engines as easy as possible.

While you can provide any kind of contact information you want, I recommend creating an email form for the general populace so as to lower the amount of spam that you receive over time.

A contact form allows people to contact you without providing them your email address or placing it somewhere for spammer robots to pick up and add to email lists.

If you want to place an email address, phone number, or other such item up for people, I recommend creating an image for that purpose as few spam robots analyze the contents of images to look for phone numbers or email addresses.

Setting up a contact form

The simplest way I have come across for setting up a contact form on a wordpress site is to grab the following two plugins:

• Contact Form 7
• Really Simple Captcha

Once you have them installed and activated:

Create a contact form with Contact Form 7

To do this:

1. Log into WordPress
2. Select "Tools" → "Contact Form 7"
3. Select "Add New" at the top
4. Click "Untitled" and give the form a name
5. Select "Generate Tag" → "Captcha"
6. Select the options you want for the Captcha
7. Copy the code for the image [captchac something]
8. On the left, click on the line above <p>[submit "Send"]</p>
9. Type in <p>
10. Paste the copied image code in
11. Type in <br /> and press enter to move the cursor to a new line
12. Type in "Type the characters in the above image into the below box<br />"
13. Press enter to move the cursor to the next line
14. On the right, copy the code for the input field [captchar something]
15. Place your cursor under the "Type the characters…" line
16. Paste the copied input field
17. Type </p> after the pasted input field code.
18. Below, enter the email address you want the form to send mail to
19. Select "Save" at the very bottom.

Copy the code for the form

The code is near the top and should look like [contact-form 404 "Not Found"]

Create a "Contact Us" Page

To do this:

1. Select "Pages" → "Add New"
2. Enter "Contact Us" for the title
3. In the body, paste the contact form code and enter anything else you want to appear there.
