Post Display Configuration

The Post Display sub-menu for each template menu is used to configure the various sections of each post when drawn on a page.

post-display-overview

As seen above, each post has five main sections, all of which are placed inside of a post container.

Each post container exists within the page template post list area.

In addition to the Kicker, Title, Byline, Body Copy, and Footer, each post can also have a subtitle and summary ( which are set in the wordpress post and page editors respectively ).

post-kicker

The post kicker is an extra item that can be displayed above each post title.

This can use post info variables ( a great concept inherited from the excellent Atahualpa Theme from the Bytes for all WordPress subsite ).

Full information on post info variables can be found within The Privateer Theme via the Privateer » Manual » Post Info Vars menu.

If you do not want a post level kicker to be displayed on a particular template, either clear out the box or make sure that the check box next to the Kicker is not checked.

post-config-title

The Post Title section simply gives you a place to specify which html tag you want to wrap the title in and note whether or not you want the title to be displayed.

post-config-subtitle

The Post Subtitle configuration section is used to:

  • Choose the HTML Tag to wrap around the displayed post or page object title.
  • Specify which post level item the subtitle should be displayed in, if any.

post-config-summary

The Post Summary configuration section is used to:

  • Choose the HTML Tag to wrap around the displayed post or page object summary
  • Specify which post level item the summary should be displayed in, if any.

post-config-byline

The Post Byline Configuration is used to build a byline for displayed posts.

The Post Byline can use Post Info Variables. Full details concerning them can be found within the theme itself under the Privateer – Manual – Post Info Vars menu.

To show the post byline:

  • Create a byline to be displayed
  • Make sure that the check box next to the Byline Config section is checked.

post-config-bodies

The Post Body Config section is used to specify whether or not the body of posts should be displayed.

If the check box next to it is checked, the body will be displayed. If not, the body will not be displayed.

post-config-thumb-in-excerpt

The Post Thumbnail In Excerpts configuration section is used to specify whether or not thumbnails should be drawn inside of excerpts when displaying posts or pages inside of the specified template.

The thumbnails are set in the WordPress Post and/or Page Editor when creating and/or editing posts and pages.

post-config-thumb-in-full

The Post Thumbnail in Full Posts configuration section is used to specify whether or not thumbnails should be drawn inside of posts and pages when they are being displayed as full posts.

The thumbnails used are those set within the WordPress Post and/or Page Editor.

post-config-footer

The Post Kicker Config is used to build Kickers for posts displayed on the template in question.

The Post Kicker can use Post Info Variables. Full details for them are found in the Privateer – Manual – Post Info Vars menu.
