The PWS DropDown Flyouts WordPress plugin is designed for creating drop down and fly out menus of various content.
Currently, it consists of a set of widget plugins:
- Page Menu Display your pages as a drop down or flyout menu.
- Category Menu Display your categories as a drop down or flyout menu.
- Category Posts Menu Display your top level categories with their posts as drop down or flyout menus.
- WordPress 3.0 Menu Display a specified wordpress 3.0 menu
- Status: Beta
- Availability: Privateer Theme Owners
At this point in time, this plugin is in development, but working well as a set of Privateer Theme only widget plugins.
Once I have time, I will be making these into standalone plugins that support shortcode parsing so that such menus can be placed into posts/pages as well as in the sidebars for most themes.
Note: These plugins currently only work well with the Privateer Theme as they use some of its built in functionality and style sheets for display purposes.
The Page Menu Widget
This is a simple widget that, once activated, lets you place the page menu header bar ( without the search box ) into a sidebar, using the configuration settings under Privateer – General Display – Page Bar
The Category Menu Widget
Like the page menu widget, this widget lets you place the category menu header bar ( without the search box ) into a sidebar, using the configuration settings under Privateer – General Display – Category Menu
The WP3 Menu Widget
This widget takes advantage of the Privateer Themes ability to display WordPress 3.0 Menus. You can choose the options that you want it to use within the widget and choose the css class that you want to use for displaying the menu. More information is in the widget panel.
The Category Posts Menu Widget
This widget creates a flyout menu that displays your top level categories as top level menu items and then displays the posts for each category as flyout sub-menus.
It makes use of the category menu configuration located in the Privateer – General Display – Category Menu bar.
Additionally, each widget can have the following extra settings:
- Flyout: One of left or right
- Sort By: How to sort posts
- Sort Order: Use ascending or descending
- Single Category ID: Specify a single category iD if you want the top level to display only one category and the sub menu to display all of the posts for that category.
- Preface Text: Specify any extra text you want in front of each item
These plugins are very simplistic, but they get the job done.
Once ready for release, these plugins will have their own styling interface ( or at least stylesheets ) and work with any theme rather than working just with the Privateer Theme.
They will also have their own configuration panels to make most of the functionality of the Privateer Theme versions available within other themes.
