Within the Privateer Theme, the site header consists of a number of horizontal bars.
Within the admin menus, you can:
- Choose which bars to be displayed
- Choose the order that you want to display the bars in
- Configure and style the bars as wanted
Choosing and Ordering the Header Bars
To specify which bars should be displayed, and in what order:
- Go to the ‘Privateer’ – ‘General Display’ – ‘Header Setup’ admin panel
- This will display the core header setup information.
- Locate the ‘Header Setup’ option
- This should be the first option displayed
- Enter the codes for each bar that you want to be displayed.
- Bar order is determined by place of code entry.
- The left most bar specified will be placed at the top of the header while the right most bar will be placed at the bottom of the header.
The following bars are currently available within the Privateer Theme:
The Page Bar ( %pages )

This bar displays the pages on your site. It can also display a home page link on the left and store, cart, and/or rss feed links on the right side.
The Category Bar ( %cats )

This bar displays the categories on your site. it can also display a home page link on the left and store, cart, and/or rss feed links on the right side.
The Logo Bar ( %logo )

This bar can be styled and set to display a logo, your site title, your site byline, arbitrary content, rss feed links, and/or a search bar.
The Alt Logo Bar ( %altlogo )

This bar can be styled and set to display a logo, arbitrary content, a series of links, and the search bar.
The Image Bar ( %image )

This bar is just like the logo bar, but randomly picks images from a specified directory to display as the background image. You can set a static background image by placing only on image in the folder it pulls from.
The Date Feed Bar ( %dfbar )

This bar displays the date and your RSS feeds
Two Static Bars ( %bar1 and %bar2 )
There are also two static bars that you can style and use wherever you wish in the header. These can be handy for creating top and bottom images, spacing things out, etc.
Three Custom Bars ( %cbar1, %cbar2, and %cbar3 )
These three bars are designed to hold your own custom content so that you can create completely custom headers or mix custom pieces in with the pre-existing header sections.
Two WordPress Menu Bars ( %nmbar1 %nmbar2 )
These bars are like the Page Bar and the Category Bar, but display WordPress 3.0 custom menus.
The Widget Bar ( %wbar )
This bar is a widget area that can be used to hold WordPress widgets within the header.
Some of the bars share certain items with other bars. Because of this, the configuration for such items is not always within the bar configuration menu.
RSS Feeds
The logo bar, alt logo bar, image bar, and date feed bar can all display rss feeds ( normal, comments, and email ).
The feed entries displayed in these bars are configured via the following menu:
• ‘Privateer’ – ‘General Display’ – ‘RSS’
The Logo Image
The logo bar, alt logo bar, and image bar can all display a site logo.
As such, the image to use and styling for it are located within the following menu:
• ‘Privateer’ – ‘General Display’ – ‘Header Setup’
The Blog Title
The logo bar and image bar can display the site title.
Styling and coloring for the title is located in the following menu:
• ‘Privateer’ – ‘General Display’ – ‘Header Setup’
The Blog Tagline
The logo bar and image bar can display your site tagline.
Styling and coloring for the tagline is located in the following menu:
• ‘Privateer’ – ‘General Display’ – ‘Header Setup’
The Search Box
The logo bar, image bar, alt logo bar, page menu, cat menu, and wordpress 3 menu header bars can all display a search box.
Styling for the search box is located in the following menu:
• ‘Privateer’ – ‘General Display’ – ‘Header Setup’
Additionally, if you want to use Google AdSense for Search, be sure to set it up in the following menu so that the theme can replace the normal search box with the adsense search box:
• ‘Privateer’ – ‘Global Settings’ – ‘Google AdSense’
Also, note that some of the bars have extra styling entries for the search box.

You can also place the header bars into the site footer!
